Trans Notes

About

I started this website to collect useful information I discovered while exploring my gender identity and during the process of transitioning.

I've been transgender (specifically transfemme, AMAB) for practically my entire adult life. As a child, I didn't really know what it meant to be transgender, or that it wasn't something that everyone experienced. I lived in a place and with people who were not particularly supportive of the LGBT+ community. On top of that, I grew up in a time when transgendered people were regarded as being deviant or wrong in some way.

It took many decades for all the pieces to fit together for me, and for me to accept my transgender identity. Even when I did, I didn't feel like I wanted to transition. It felt wrong, somehow. Years after that, after receiving substantial mental health support, I finally decided to transition.

I wouldn't say that things have been easy - but I did get lucky in a number of ways. My partner and my children are very supportive of my identity, for example. I also have access to gender affirming health care, which I know not everyone can say.

I'm a tech geek at heart, and I've worked in the tech industry for many years. I'm also occasionally a professional writer. I love to share knowledge with others and help people with the things I've learned.

I hope you find the materials on this website useful!
